Welcome to the Battlefield 2 section of this website. For all of you who are true fans of the game and for those who may be interested in it.
I have been playing this game since early 2005, stopped for a while due to commitments but now im back in it with vigor
My buddy and housemate, aka Chris M(PhaZZed) from iMod, has joined me in my endeavors to conquer the battlefield and as such have joined an awesome clan +SSG+. Thanks guys for bringing us on board.
Heres a snippet of a review I got of Gamezone, let it wet your lips:
“BF2 is a modern day version of BF 1942 with all the latest weapons and vehicles one would expect in a modern day wargame. Play as the US Marines, The Chinese People’s Army, or the Middle East Coalition. Not only are there a ton of great weapons like wire guided hand held rockets, and all the latest machine guns, but also there are about 30+ driveable vehicles. Yes 30! The maps are well balanced so the games do not turn into a battle of the bulge type game. So you do have to use the armor, air support and infantry in coordinated attacks to do well. Driving vehicles and boats are pretty simple, but just about every air unit does take some getting used to. To avoid getting heckled in online play I highly recommend practicing a lot in the single-player games.
Battlefield 2 features immense, richly detailed, destructible environments, from city streets to remote forests, in some of the most notorious hot spots around the world. Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world. An all-new game engine and physics system brings the modern battlefield to life like never before. The new material penetration feature measures weapons’ ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive.
The new commanding option lets one guy, usually the most experienced, call all the shots. He will be able to bark out orders what to do while having special controls to use UAVs to spot enemy movement and call in supply drops, air support, and artillery bombardments. The enemy can take out such things by destroying some of the above aforementioned, but that’s where your engineers can come save the day. They can repair armor, artillery guns, bridges, etc. In addition they can also plant explosives to do some heavy damage. In addition to engineers, other infantry include medics, anti-tank, assault, support, Special Forces, and one of my favorites, the sniper. All have their own unique kits with different guns and explosives and other devices unique to their class. Soldier kits now affect vehicles that players utilize on the battlefield. For instance, the medic kit can transform a vehicle into a mobile aid station and the support kit can make helicopters into flying ammo dumps.”
This game can be played on many levels, you dont need to be a complete pro to enjoy yourself, but true enjoyment does come from knowing the game dynamics well enough to successfully co-ordinate an attack on your enemy and wipe them off the map. From chilling back on a hill or rooftop somewhere with a high caliber sniper rifle picking foe off left and right to getting right up in the thick of it as a medic reviving downed teammates and just healing the wounded. And as mentioned above, playing as the commander can be very rewarding, not only can you communicate via voice comms to the squad leaders on your side, but you can plan and execute attacks from a distance and put your soldiers right where they need to be. Commander is the all seeing eye, and without good guidance a game can turn bad quickly.
So if there are any of you who are interested, many local resellers are selling it for about 99 bucks which in my opinion is a steal. It does require and ADSL connection and can use upwards of about 65mb an hour. There are applications around such as Routesentry which can split traffic and direct local to a local only account and international to an international account. The game needs a bit of international to authenticate with the primary server and update stats.
I will be putting up and will try keep updated the AGASA league fixtures for 2009 where im certain +SSG+ will do some damage

It’s such an epic game! Once you get into it and you get to know some of the other people on the server, it unfolds a whole new side to the game and becomes as social as it is fun.
